Wayne Baxmann

Wayne Baxmann was born in Milwaukee and attended Emmaus Lutheran School on 23rd and Hadley.  Following his confirmation and graduation from Emmaus he attended the “old” Lutheran High School on 13th and Reservoir.  In 1955 Milwaukee Lutheran High School opened on 96th and Grantosa and Wayne stayed back at the old school, becoming part of the first graduating class from Wisconsin Lutheran High School in 1956.  Following a short stint in the military he went back to school and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in secondary education.  He received a call to teach English and speech at Wisconsin Lutheran High School where he served from 1965 until 1978.  During those years he received a Master of Science degree in Educational Psychology (Guidance and Counseling) which prepared him for his role as Guidance Director at Wisco.  In 1978 he received a call to start Evergreen Lutheran High School in Tacoma, Washington, and be its first principal.  He served at Evergreen until the mid-80’s when he returned to Milwaukee.  He served as Planned Giving Counselor for the WELS until 1989 when he accepted a call to become principal of Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School.  He retired in 2000.  Since then he has worked to develop an adult education facility for Wisconsin Lutheran Child and Family Service and as a consultant for Cornerstone Stewardship Ministry.  He and his wife Renee’ live in Germantown and have been members of Risen Savior since 2001.  They have three adult children.
